Well the bears didnt eat us, but a giant bug did

the Pneumonia bug to be exact. Ask me how well it treated my kid's will ya?Especially my kid with asthma. She actually had an asthma attack bad enough that she turned blue and I had to call 911. So after she completed a cycle of IV antibiotics and steriods we were home joining the rest of the sickies. All fevers between 102-103. Good times I tell ya!

Camping was great---Marissa did mostly great(with only two blow outs and one vomiting episode). It was HOT so we parked her in her chair in the shade and had a fan plugged in in front of her and used a water bottle mister to keep her cool. The kids ran and played, dug in the dirt, swam, ate smoore's you know all the typical camping adventures. We even had a water balloon fight and survived a natural disaster. Ok not a real natural disaster, but a pretty damn big dust storm that threw up a twister so strong that when I picked up Marissa out of her wheel chair to run inside the camper it blew away(and that thing isn't lite either!)The kids were traumatised and it took another day to calm them down enough to get them to roam a bit. We didn't have ANY natural shade where we were(in the desert) so I couldn't have lived without our EZ-up. We are planning another trip soon and I plan to buy the side panels to give us better shade as the sun moves. Also totally buying a mister hose that will attach to the EZ-up. I brought a fridge as our camper only has an ice box and we ate pretty typical meals(we had hook ups so I cooked on with an electric skillet. My favorite meal was the banana splits and the bratwurst-n-beer! yum! All in all it went great! Once Rae gets the pictures to me Ill post an album link here.

My girls are in 3 different schools this year, 4 if you include Maggie. Two of them are in morning and two in afternoon. 3 of them are taking the bus and one I am picking up. I felt like shit today when I signed them all up and attended orientations and each teacher asked me to sign up to help in the class room. How can I possibly? I will still have Mackenzie and Kailen at home and be torn between 4schools. Oh well such is the life of a mom with lots of kids. I'm sure there are plenty of them out there who do it all, maybe someday Ill be one of them. For now I'm gonna work on just getting everyone up and out the door and to their respective bus stops on time. Did I mention that two of them are in morning? School starts at 7:50. Want to guess the last time I *woke up* before 8am? Just shoot me now would ya?

STOP feeling bad about not helping in the class. You are helping, just at home. You are helping your kids to grow up healthy and happy! Send a nice note to each of the teachers thanking them for doing such a great job with your girls a couple of times throughout the year. It will give them a big boost and be more helpful than you realize.

Tell them you're not able to help right now but you'd be glad to donate their top ten wants for the classroom. That way they still remember you fondly and your kids will never run out of kleenex and fish crackers in class. LOL

I'm feelin ya girl. Mornings are a blur right now. I wish someone could dress themselves other than me.

I'm sure if your girls' teachers knew what you do every day they wouldn't be angry about you not helping in their classrooms. Glad y'all had fun camping!

What a camping adventure! We live on the High Plains of Colorado, so I know dust storms can be scary for kids. The black boogers they pick afterward almost make up for it?!

Sooo sorry to hear about the pneumonia! I hope you're all well now.

I concur that you must STOP feeling guilty about not helping at schools(s) NOW. You're doing more than your fair share at home.

I didn't volunteer at DS1's one day a week options for homeschoolers class AT ALL last year because we had our first placement + she was an infant / non-separating DS2 = my hands full. I did bring yummy snacks when I could, and bath salts infused with essential oils for Summertime teacher gifts.
