Well it will be our third offer because I pulled out of offer #3. I just couldn't do it. The neighborhood and house itself just wasn't what I was looking for... SO back to the MLS I went(well actually Rae went as I drove around) and we found 3 more houses. The first one I loved right away, the second had definite potential and the block was beautiful(only one street over from the first one.) The third Rae found 10K over our upper limit but with pleas for any and all offers. We found out pretty quick that house number 2 had just accepted an offer. House number 3 has a spa and is larger sq ft wise so we went to see the inside of that one first. While its was nice "enough" I wasn't ready to write an offer until Id gone back and seen inside house number one. As I was driving back to house number one I knew already that that was the house Id write an offer on. The area is just so much nicer and its very close to the freeway(and OK I'll admit it only a freeway exit away from my best friend, you know who she is right???) So we sent in our offer. The agent said they only had one offer and that it was "ugly" Ours isn't perfect. Its at the top of our price range so we had no choice but to offer 4k under their asking price and we had to ask for closing costs. I just hope my ugly offer was prettier than the last one. This house has a huge lot, its on a quiet well maintained and established block. It has a 3car garage and RV parking. The backyard is plumbed for a spa and has tons of hard scape and a great spot for a "playground" for the kids. Its WALKING distance from that elementary school I was coveting. The kitchen is UGLY. The owners redid it with DARK cabinets and a hideous granite counter top. Ill be living with it for awhile at least...but its not the end of the world. I love the fire place and it has a separate family room. Its only 800sq ft smaller than our current home o_O but the bedrooms are a great size(bigger than we have now) I especially love that the hall way which is off the family room(leading to the bedrooms) has a door! The first home that Shana and I bought had a similar feature and I really loved it. It isn't much to look at from the curb but my landscape artist mother already has lots of grandiose idea's about how to change that. all in all I love the house. I really hope we get this one...time is ticking!
