OK so I admit Ive used some rather manipulative parenting strategies as of late in order to get the *truth* out of my children. One of those being: OK, now listen carefully! I am going to go into the other room and ask GOD if what you are telling me is true, he knows all and he WILL tell me the *truth*. 99% of the time I get the truth before I ever have to leave the room. That said, onto today's Olivia-ism:
I am sitting at my computer and I hear my cell phone ring downstairs. I listen to the stampede of little feet running after it....who will get it first this time? Soon I hear Olivia chanting "mommy your phone, mommy your phone" All of a sudden I hear a struggle, a scream the sound of Olivia melting down on the the landing of the stairs and Emily now *running* as fast as she can up the stairs with a huge smile and a sing-songy voice "mommy your phone is ringing". I take the phone and ask Emily if she took it from Olivia--she begins to scream(of course SHE had it first) I send her to her room and go to Olivia. By now both girls are far past hysterical--I only question her because while I believe Olivia *did* have it first I could also imagine the possibility that Olivia is just MAD that Emily got it first. I ask her: Did Emily *REALLY* take that phone from you, or are you upset because she got it *first*. She looks up at the ceiling and lets out a cry with such believable gusto GOD Knows! That all I could do is turn around and walk into my bedroom and close the door as fast as possible and crumple on my bed in laughter. Of course then I called everyone I know and no one thought it was as funny as me, but 2hrs later and I am still smiling. These kids just make my day with all they do and say.
