Emily is 4!
Well today is Emily's 4th birthday, tomorrow is Olivia's!
I spoke with Emily's birth mom on the phone today for almost an hr. It was our first ever conversation. It went REALLY well! I am so glad I decided to take this leap. I also spoke with Emily's grandma(birth moms mom) All in all it went really well, I am going to give my hand at this open adoption stuff. I know its going to take time to navigate and establish good boundaries. So far everyone is being so respectful. E's birth mom-lets call her MamaC even pointed out that Emily is still so young and we needn't confuse her, for now I am mommy as it should be. I let her say happy birthday to E on the phone--something I spent all morning agonising over, and in the end it went great! MamaC was very strong on the phone just said(sang): the happy birthday song and then said goodbye. E had no idea who she was but loved the attention and special phone call. We are going to try to get together soon at a park with grandma.
4years ago today I lay in bed and I wonder about other women who just like me were in labor, about the give birth...fours years ago today both me and MamaC(both first borns) both laboring with our first born daughters, in the same city- 3minutes away from one another by car-- Happy laboring/birthing day MamaC, happy birthday Emily, I love you!
