Its Official! Olivia has TWO LEGAL Mommies!

We made a weekend out of the event! Thursday Raechelle came to stay and help us prepare. Later that night my brother Larry arrived. Friday we were joined by my father Larry, cousin Nikki, Shana's best friend Tonya, and Shana's brother Robert. We met our lawyer Kate at the court house. She was just great! She briefed us on the process and we sat in the hall with several other families waiting to be brought into the court room. One by one the judge called each family into his chambers. Thankfully we were #2! He was WONDERFUL! So nice and had SUCH a great sense of humor. Despite his obvious attempt to relax me I was a nervous WRECK! Even forgetting my own name when it came time for me to sign the documents! After the adoption was granted he took us all back into the court room and posed us for pictures, first our new legal family, and then us with him, and then a group shot of us with our closest friends and family! My dad brought us flowers(boy did the judge get a kick out of that, you'd think he see's that everyday!) We hung around for awhile and took a few more pictures before heading back to our house for pizza and icecream. Everyone had a blast harvesting vegetables out of our garden and just having a good time in general. Later that night we were joined by another friend who we lovingly refer to as ED. That night we all stayed up pretty late, and in turn slept late. Saturday morning as we prepared for a second party I walked around in a haze and my HERO Raechelle stepped up and took over for me. She was amazing! She prepared all the food, and made sure everyone had something to snack on. That afternoon we were joined by friends Donna, Rhonda, Michelle and Mahra, Olivia's godfather Mitchell, Angela and Rayanne, and Mary. Its was a wonderful celebration. Everyone is now gone(except my brother) and today we just relaxed. Shana and Olivia played and I SLEPT ALL DAY! Shana is a fabulous mom, there has been no question that Olivia has had two mothers since her conception. I am proud today to be able to stand up and say that as of August 19 2005 Olivia Grace Havemann-Britt has two nationally recognized legal MOTHERS!
